MATERIALS MANAGER

OVERVIEW
 
Responsible for managing control and movement of materials; direct and administer production scheduling and control, inventory and warehouse stock control, purchasing and receiving of raw materials. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieve objectives by contributing materials management information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; collect, analyze, and summarize data and trends; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, and quality standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends; determine materials management system improvements and implement change.
  • Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements; prepare annual budget; schedule expenditures; analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
  • Meet sales forecasts and current orders by developing production planning and scheduling systems; optimize labor, equipment, and inventory resources; examine and resolve schedule deviations and problems.
  • Lead the buying of materials, supplies, equipment, and services by developing procedures; review, evaluate, consolidate, upgrade, and approve requests; examine and resolve shortages and quality issues; evaluate and approve vendors, materials, supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Manage inventory by determining and maintaining optimum inventory and cost levels.
  • Store product by developing warehousing policies and procedures and implementing inventory movement systems.
  • Manage 4-6 direct reports.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
 
REQUIREMENTS
 
>  Bachelor’s degree
>  8-10 years of experience in a high volume-manufacturing environment
>  6-8 years in a supervisory role
>  APICS Certified
>  Knowledgeable, skilled, and capable in leading the in materials management process, production planning, inventory control, acquisition of materials, and receiving processes
>  Excellent communication, planning, organizing and problem solving skills
>  Promotable to the next level of responsibility within 2 to 3 years
