Energy Engineer Duties:

  • As the senior energy engineer you will be fully responsible for the planning and execution of all aspects of the energy services projects from the scoping and proposal stage through project completion.
  • Lead others in the energy service group in providing energy services.
  • Lead the work that will be involved with automation and controls systems, HVAC systems, gas distribution systems, commercial refrigeration, fire alarm/life safety systems, and lighting and lighting controls.
  • Lead the project with your knowledge of the design of mechanical and electrical systems for commercial, institutional and light industrial facilities as they relate to energy conservation for commercial, industrial and institutional facilities.
  • Lead projects with your knowledge of building and energy codes as well as energy and commissioning standards.
  • Lead projects with your knowledge of energy audits of existing buildings.
  • Lead projects with your knowledge of energy modeling of new construction and existing building renovations.
  • Lead the energy consulting meetings for design and construction teams and participating in LEED design and status meetings.
  • Perform energy analysis of multiple system options and present recommendations in both written and oral formats.
  • Work as a third party to design teams to assist in system selection and verification for the energy performance of various systems.
  • Will be responsible for performing energy engineering work for architects, real estate developers, communications companies, consumer products/retail facilities, country clubs, education facilities (K-12, universities), government/municipal buildings, financial services companies, health care facilities, and commercial buildings and structures.
  • Responsibilities will include energy audits of existing buildings, energy modeling for new buildings, and collaboration with other team members on recommending energy-efficient, environmental solutions.
  • Work with a 2-D and 3-D display of your building geometry, graphical display of HVAC equipment layout, and access input parameters and summary/hourly report data.
  • Work with the DOE-2 building energy analysis program that can predict the energy use and cost for all types of buildings.
  • Work with DOE-2, using a description of the building layout, constructions, operating schedules, conditioning systems (lighting, HVAC, etc.) and utility rates provided by the user, along with weather data, to perform an hourly simulation of the building and to estimate utility bills.
  • Work with DOE-2 to predict the hourly energy use and energy cost of a building given hourly weather information and a description of the building and its HVAC equipment and utility rate structure.
  • Responsible to determine the choice of building parameters that improve energy efficiency while maintaining thermal comfort and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work with leading edge technology preparing engineering energy designs, reports and cost estimates of mechanical work for cutting edge HVAC, plumbing, electrical, sanitary, fire / life safety, central utilities, site utilities, building electronic systems, critical systems, lighting design, sustainable design, energy conservation and telecommunications engineering services for various projects.
  • Work with mechanical systems and lighting systems as they relate to energy conservation for commercial, industrial and institutional facilities.
  • Work with energy modeling software and the writing of reports.
  • Responsible for the energy audits of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for high end custom projects including: civic centers, libraries, city halls, banks, malls, movie theaters, luxury hotels, building infrastructure, corporate facilities, luxury apartment buildings, luxury condominiums, commercial, educational, healthcare, hospitality, cultural facilities and institutional buildings.
  • Involved with the energy engineering of HVAC, chiller work, cooling towers, some steam, compressed air, fire protection and plumbing.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Must have a Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
  • CEM (Certified Energy Manager) or (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) LEED AP Preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years working knowledge of automation and controls systems, HVAC systems, gas distribution systems, commercial refrigeration, fire alarm/life safety systems, lighting and lighting controls.
  • Minimum 8 years working knowledge of the design of mechanical and electrical systems for commercial, institutional and light industrial
