Outstanding international mfg. co. is looking for a Buyer/Planner with 2+ years experience in mfg..  Reports to the Supply Chain Mgr. and will be responsible for planning and coordinating the purchasing of materials from foreign and domestic suppliers for production. Also responsible for backing up the production scheduling role, including forecasting material needs. .  You will also aid in the development of policies and procedures in the areas of procurement and inventory control. Will also play a key role in the management of inventory.  Communicates with suppliers to ensure on time delivery and manages the delivery of appropriate quantity levels based on the fluctuations in customer demand.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:
Must have strong  ERP experience, preferably SAP.  
Conduct/Initiate cycle counts on required materials as necessary.
Research reasons behind inventory discrepancies and aid in the corrective actions at the root cause level.
Must consider best price, quality, and reliability when purchasing products (Delivered value).
Arranges the safe transport of materials.
Ensures materials and parts in the supply chain meet the minimum requirements for quality assurance standards.
Places purchase orders.
Aids in the development of procedures in the areas of inventory control, receiving, storage, and distribution of materials throughout the plant.
Interface with all departments in regards to materials that have been requested to ascertain specifications and needs.
Maintains adequate supply levels throughout the supply chain.
Follows established safe practices for receiving hazardous substances.
Perform other responsibilities as required.
Knowledge and skills requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, logistics or other applicable discipline preferred
10+ years experience in manufacturing and or supply planning, logistics or related industry

Experience in Lean/continuous improvement transformation preferred. 6S, PDCA’s, value-stream analysis, SOP creation, pull systems, flow systems, etc.…

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  High School Diploma required.

Work Experience: 2+ years manufacturing, supply chain, and/or logistics.  SAP experience required.
Additional Comments:  Closely integrated with other functions such as Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Sales, Finance, and Purchasing.  Strong leadership skills are a plus.  This opportunity requires full engagement in continuous improvement activities.
